Thalassaemia Screening

Thalassemia is an inherited disease that causes due to formation of abnormal hemoglobin. It causes excessive destruction of red blood cells. As a result it leads to anemia and the anemia leads to death.

As a part of Prevention and Control of Hemoglobinopathies in India of National Health Mission, Santipur Marami has taken Thalassemia Control Programme to make Santipur Thalassemia free with whole hearted support of Thalassemia Control Unit of Nadia District Sadar Hospital, Krishnagar, Nadia.

Santipur Marami has already made about 60 camps in different primary and high schools, colleges, Health Sub-Centers, Municipality words and wants to continue it until the goal is reached.
